Who is Dea Tosku?
RACIST & ISLAMOPHOBIC UWINDSOR STUDENT
On July 16th, 2020, a video surfaced depicting a woman (identified as Dea Tosku by a member of ExposeUWindsor who alleges to have attended secondary school with her) angrily accosting two unseen passengers on a TTC transit. Dea can be heard claiming “You guys are Ni**ers, I hate Muslims” among many other inflammatory statements towards the passengers (who many commentators have indicated were two Black Muslim individuals).
WHERE DOES SHE WORK/STUDY?
To the best of our knowledge, Dea Tosku studied a Bachelor of Arts – Ba, Criminology & English at the University of Windsor from 2012-2017 where she completed “Coursework in fields or sociology, criminology, psychology and historical literature” (as per the LinkedIn page registered to this name). The same page indicates that Dea Tosku made her way to a “Sales Manager” position at Stuart Weitzman in Toronto Ontario where she is now employed “Analyzing, strategizing and focusing on practical sales techniques in order to increase daily target sales goals. In addition, forecasting and running daily sales reports to sales team in order to produce individual and sales quota.”

MSG TO UWINDSOR PRESIDENT GORDON
ExposeUWindsor condemns the anti-Black Islamophobia of Dea Tosku and calls on the University of Windsor administration to take swift action to address the behaviour of the former UWindsor student. Our Demands are as follows:
- ExposeUWindsor demands that the President Robert Gordon and the UWindsor administration to– with immediate effect– disassociate itself with any professional affiliation it may currently have Dea Tosku.
- ExposeUWindsor demands the immediate removal of Dea Tosku’s name from the UWindsor website as seen below.
- ExposeUWindsor demands that President Robert Gordon permanently revoke Dea Tosku’s ability to study at our institution.
- ExposeUWindsor demands that President Robert Gordon issue a public condemnation of the actions displayed in the video.
WHAT GORDON MUST SAY
In any such statement issued, we strongly advise President Robert Gordon to heed the lesson from his past failures to address anti-Black racism head-on with respect to his spineless statement issued on June 1st, 2020 concerning the murder of George Floyd. Not once was the word “Black” even written in President Gordon’s statement. We advise President Robert Gordon that we full expect that “anti-Black racism” as well as “Islamophobia” be explicitly attributed to Dea Tosku’s actions and explicitly condemned accordingly. Anything less would be a repeated failure. Do not fail us again.

Our Message to Dea Tosku
Ms. Tosku,
Your actions have caused a great deal of hurt and pain to many of the loved ones in our community. We urge you to consider the impact of your words with greater care in the future. We care much for our Black and Muslim siblings and will do what we must to ensure their safety among us. For the time being, this means our communities must be aware of the risk you have posed to their well-being. We hope one day you will come to realize the severity of your words. Until then, we will continue to move forward and heal as a community.
